About The Spa
The Sercotel Alhama de Aragón Spa is possibly one of the oldest in existence.
The old "San Roque and Cantarero Thermal Springs" was turned into this new and modern spa hotel designed for the comfort and convenience of its visitors. Its charm is based on the hot spring water’s mineral properties and its many facilities. Interior and exterior thermo-active pools, water systems, steam baths, Templarium, Vichy showers, Kneipp and Circular, are some of the many thermal areas it offers.
SPA HISTORY
Our facilities have a special attraction, the baths gallery called `El Moro' (XI century), considered to be one of the oldest in Spain. There is evidence that this bath dates back to Roman times, since the arch framing the rock from which the spring flows is from this era. Later on, in time of the Goths, the springs fell into oblivion but regained their importance with the arrival of the Arabs.
The original bathhouse was called Baños Viejos (afterwards Baños Viejos de San Roque). It is an ancient construction, known by Romans and Arabs, and mentioned by Alfonso I the Warrior in the year 1122. At the time, it only had two basins, one for men and one for women (the `El Moro' and 'La Mora' baths (XI century), which this year were restored to their original state). They were formed as a vault in the concavity of the large limestone rock where the modest building was constructed, afterwards modified and declared an official establishment the year 1841. The new San Roque baths date back to 1852.
In 1852, the owners of the Baños Viejos de San Roque built another facility next to it, more spacious and comfortable and they called it Baños Nuevos de San Roque. In 2003, a new building was constructed.

The spa provides a harmonious relationship between body and water, the following are the three key points to achieving it:

3 - Let yourself be wrapped by the water.
Remember that the effectiveness of a treatment depends on the quality of its water and its proper use, ask us to respond to any doubts you might have and learn to enjoy one of mankind’s oldest pleasures.
USE REGULATIONS
- We recommend going to the spa’s facilities 5 minutes before the beginning of the treatment.
- Smoking in the spa area is not allowed, nor the use of mobile phones.
- Do not use creams, oils or lotions not belonging to the spa, since they can alter the water’s medicinal mineral properties.
- It is mandatory to use the shower before entering the pool.
- It is forbidden to jump or dive head first into the active thermal pool.
- If you cannot keep your appointment, please cancel it in a timely manner.
Cancelling spa services: Cancellations after 10:00 AM on the day of service booked will result in a 50% cancellation fee. All spa services booked not carried out and not annulled, for reasons external to the resort, will entail a penalty of 100% of the service’s value. The fee will be charged added to the cost of the accommodation on the day of departure.
OPENING HOURS:
- From 9:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00, Monday through Friday
- From 9:30 to 13:30 and from 16:30 to 20:30 Saturday and Sunday
All treatments are carried out with medicinal mineral water from our spring.
About The Waters
PROPERTIES OF WATER
Water is the human body’s main component. The Sercotel Alhama de Aragón is based on this premise, and its greatest wealth lies in its thermal waters. These waters are known for their healing properties and were used by el Cid’s men, back in the day.
At the Alhama de Aragón Spa, and always under medical prescription, we carry out custom purification, toning, relaxation and beauty treatments. Our main technique is the use of medicinal mineral hot springs in showers and baths.
The El Moro (XI century) and La Mora Springs (XI century) contain the charm and richness of the purest spring water. At the El Moro Springs, you’ll enjoy a fine rain falling constantly from the natural cave formed by the water over 900 years. The La Mora Springs has a refreshing waterfall to help you let go of stress. Both can be enjoyed before and after a hydromassage shower that completes a unique treatment.
Its therapeutic indications are: recovery, rehabilitation, relief, prevention, care and general health improvement.
WATER’S FEATURES:
The Thermal Cure or "Spa therapy". It consists of using the medicinal mineral water for the application of techniques and achieve the best results for all the various therapeutic indications.
This treatment is primarily focused on a therapeutic and preventive function, as well as general physical and mental well-being, both necessary conditions for the improvement of health.
